Step forward and tell the truth

The mother of homicide victim Jodi Parrack said anyone with knowledge of the incident should step forward and tell the truth.

Jo Gilson, mother of 11-year-old Parrack, addressed the media Tuesday at the Constantine Police Department. The event was staged following last week’s arrest of Raymond McCann on a felony charge of perjury.

A warrant for McCann’s arrest was issued after Michigan State Police cold-case investigators discovered inconsistencies in his comments made immediately after and years later regarding the November 2007 homicide of Parrack.

Gilson said she has known McCann since she was a teenager and is best friends with his sister, who accompanied her to Tuesday’s event. Still, Gilson, said she and the McCann family deserve to hear the truth about what happened to her daughter.

Gilson, who previously went by the name Valerie Carver, now lives in Northwest Indiana.

McCann was arraigned over the weekend and he remains in the county jail. A preliminary hearing from the perjury charge is scheduled for May 1.
