Salute to Citizen of the Year

A large crowd was on hand last week at Belle Epoque to salute Three Rivers’ Citizen of the Year, Jerry Wright.

Presented by the Three Rivers Lions Club, the Citizen of the Year was newly named this year in honor of Bruce C. Snook. Snook was a longtime Lion and community activist who passed away last August.

The 70-year-old Wright was given the award based on his commitment to the community and integrity as a  Lions Club member.

A 1953 graduate of Three Rivers High School, Wright subsequently opened the Wright Dance Studio and owned four publishing-related businesses.

In 2006, he published the Three Rivers Historical Scrapbook, and played a major role in last year’s film, The Current, which showcased the life of Three Rivers.

Among other items, he was presented plaques of recognition from U.S. Rep Fred Upton, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, city officials and fellow Lions Club members.
