Janice L. (McKindley-Osgood) Custard, age 85, of Mendon, died Thursday June 19, 2014 at Bowman Place in Three Rivers. She was born in Akron, Ohio on Oct. 4, 1928 the daughter of Homer F. and Lucile M. (Acker) McKindley. She was a 1946 graduate of Mendon High School . Janice was married to Leonard “Mike” Osgood on Feb. 12, 1949 in Angola, IN. Mike died Sep. 14, 1984. Janice was a homemaker, and a member of the Mendon United Methodist Church for over sixty years. She was also a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and a life member of the D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary. She was married to Donald H. Custard on June 1, 1985 in Mendon. Don died on Feb. 2, 2013.
Janice is survived by three daughters, Christine (Dean) Norton, Diane (Lon) Huffman, and Karen (Dave Stump) Kline all of Mendon; two step-daughters, Dagne (Francis) Horning and Nan Schmitz both of Mendon; thirteen grandchildren, Ben Horning, Teresa Schmitz, Amy and Andrew Stienbarger, Becky Behrends, Kim Morris, Kelly Clingman, Nicole Furey, Traci Millard, Jaime Spradlin, Melissa Draper, Brett Huffman, and Alison Schlang; seventeen great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack (Nancy) McKindley and Homer McKindley. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and brother, Donald R. “Bob” McKindley.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 11 am Monday June 23, 2014 at the Mendon United Methodist Church.
