Three WWII Veterans honored

Three World War II veterans from Southwest Michigan joined state Rep. Aaron Miller at the Capitol Thursday to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Allied victory in Europe.
Miller invited the veterans and their families to join him and Brig. Gen. Len Isabelle at the Capitol, where they were introduced in the House and Senate chambers. Rep. Miller said he invited them to Lansing to recognize the former military members for their roles in bringing the war in Europe to an end on May 8, 1945.
Veterans visiting the Capitol were Paul Richardson of Edwardsburg, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Europe; Dillon Fritz of Sturgis, who served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific; and Truman Miller of Sturgis, a Navy veteran who served in the Pacific.
In addition to being honored with a standing ovation from the House floor, the veterans also were guests in the Senate of state Sen. John Proos and enjoyed a lunch in the Capitol with Miller and other lawmakers.
