Four arrested in drive-by shooting case

Sturgis police arrested four people believed to be responsible for a drive-by shooting that occurred Tuesday in Sturgis.
Police arrested two 16-year-old males and a 17-year-old male.
On Wednesday, police identified a fourth suspect, a 32-year-old Sturgis man, and were in the process of obtaining a warrant for his arrest.
Officers received a tip about his location, and found him around 3 p.m. at a home on Susan Street. He was arrested without incident.
The four face charges that include multiple counts of assault with intent to commit murder, discharging of a firearm from a vehicle, felony firearm and malicious destruction of property over $20,000.
Charges stem from an incident early Tuesday, when three homes and five vehicles were damaged by gunfire on the west side of the city. No one was injured in the shootings.
Geoff Smith, Sturgis director of public safety, credited teamwork between residents and the department’s officers for the quick arrests.
