Out and About for December 23rd

This is a very special time of the year. It doesn’t matter what religious beliefs you have, it is a time of celebration. For me, the day after tomorrow is Christmas. I personally feel that it has become too commercialized. Too much emphasis has been placed on shopping for gifts that we can’t really afford, and not enough emphasis has been placed on just being nice to one another. Just my opinion and, just like noses, everyone has one.

Winter has definitely arrived. Those wishing for a “white Christmas” have been granted their wish. Those desiring a “snow day”, so that they don’t have to go to school,  have also been granted their wish. I’m wishing for an early spring. Now all I have to do is wait for a clear winter night, so that I can find a star in the sky to wish upon.

The Three Rivers High School Music Department will produce the Wizard of Oz this coming March. Auditions for this production will begin in January. High school student auditions will be January 12 and 13. Watch and listen for audition times in your local paper and radio station. “Munchkin” auditions for elementary and middle school  will take place Thursday, January 15, at 5 P.M. in the Three Rivers High School Performing Arts Center (PAC).  Dog auditions for the role of Toto will be Friday, January 16, at 5 P.M., also in the PAC. Dog owners are requested to make sure their dog is on a leash and to wait in the lobby area, outside the PAC.

Due to the Christmas Holiday, this column is a bit shorter than normal. There’s always a reason to be Out and About and at this time of the year, being with family is one of the reasons for the season.

On behalf of my wife, three loving cats, and myself, I’d like to wish each and every one of you a very joyous Christmas. As one of my favorite Christmas carols states, “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”

~ PEACE ~
