Flood insurance available in Park Township

August 14, 2009 by WLKM

Park Township is now a participant in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

That fact was noted during the “Correspondence” portion of the Park Township Board’s August meeting Wednesday evening (August 12th).

Official notification came through a letter from the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The letter says that Park Township “is eligible to participate in the Emergency Phase of the NFIP effective on June 30, 2009.  Flood insurance is now available to local property owners and may be purchased from any insurance agent or broker licensed to do business in the State where the insurable property is located.”

The letter goes on to say, “The Township of Park’s property owners will want to know about his opportunity to obtain insurance protection against losses from future flooding.  The buildings and contents coverage is now available to building owners and tenants.”

According to Supervisor Joe Eichorn, information about the National Flood Insurance Program and Park Township’s participation in it will be posted on the township’s website at www.park-township.org.
