Update – St. Joe County Transportation

October 2, 2009 by WLKM

A new senior bus ticket program is now in place in St. Joseph County with tickets provided by the St. Joseph County Transportation Authority.

Under the program that began October 1st, seniors will use the new “senior my ride” ticket from the Transportation Authority.

In the past, the Commission on Aging was the connection for bus tickets for seniors in St. Joseph County. Now, thanks to a grant through the Area Agency on Agency, the Transportation Authority will provide all bus tickets for seniors at the suggested donation of $2 with limited availability.

The new program will help provide assistance with the costs of bus transportation for seniors in St. Joseph County.

As noted by Steve Yorks, director of the Transportation Authority, “This ticket program not only allows seniors of St. Joseph County the opportunity to ride for $2 one-way, but will allow seniors the convenience of ticket availability on all buses except circle line routes.” The tickets are also available at the Transportation Authority at 810 Webber Avenue in Three Rivers and by phoning (269) 273-7808 or 1-800-964-5700.

Once seniors fill out the necessary paperwork, the Transportation Authority will issue them an identification card.

Seniors can get intake forms and information from the Transportation Authority at 810 Webber Avenue in Three Rivers, county dial-a-ride buses, or by phoning the Transportation Authority.

The “senior my ride” bus ticket process is solely managed by the Transportation Authority and is not in any way related to the COA bus ticket sales.

Yorks said, “It is our goal to provide the best possible service to all of our customers whether it is through the new, easier process of ticket availability or providing you with a safe, efficient and affordable ride.”
