Earl Stark is Mayor Pro-Tem
November 10, 2009 by WLKM
Third District Commissioner Earl Stark has been elected “Mayor Pro-Tem” in the City of Three Rivers.
The selection of Stark for the position came on a unanimous vote during the Three Rivers City Commission’s annual organizational meeting Monday evening (November 9th).
Stark, former chief of police in Three Rivers, was re-elected to the commission in the November 3rd general election. He ran without opposition.
Just before Monday’s meeting was called to order, City Clerk Lindsay Howes administered the oath of office to Stark, Mayor Allen Balog, First District Commissioner Judy Gilchrist, and Commissioner-at-Large Wendy Shank, all of whom won two-year terms in last week’s balloting.
The commission decided to continue holding regular commission meetings during the next year at 6 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays – with three exceptions when meetings will be held a day earlier because of election activity. The resulting Monday meetings are slated for May 3rd, August 2nd and November 1st.
In other organizational activity, the commission:
• Adopted City Commission/City Administration Guidelines
• Agreed to continue using “The Meeting Will Come to Order” for its parliamentary procedure rules
• Established Meeting Guidelines in keeping with recent practice
• Determined the holiday schedule for city employees
• And heard “Administrative Review” reports from various department heads.
