A rural Mendon man was injured Thursday afternoon in an explosion at his home. 77-year-old Don Huff was attempting to light a wall-mounted propane furnace using a small torch, when it exploded. The force of the explosion blew out the side of the house, located on Pleasant Road, east of Mendon. The family dog died in the blast. Huff was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital, where he is listed in fair condition.
