County unemployment down

July’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County was 3.7 percent lower than the figure from the previous month. The monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget showed the county’s drop in unemployment went from 13 percent in June to 9.3 percent. Trailer stolen in Constantine Township

Michigan State Police troopers are investigating the theft of a 2019 Cargo Express, sixteen-foot, dual axle trailer. The trailer is black and has wood-over-metal racks welded to the top of it. The trailer was taken during the overnight hours Tuesday and Wednesday last week from the 13000 block of Miller Road in Constantine Township.

Michigan virus cases top 100,000 since outbreak in March

Recount confirms election results

A recount conducted Thursday confirmed results of the Aug. 4 election for Fabius Township supervisor. St. Joseph County Clerk Lindsay Oswald said the two-hour, hand-count process verified Ken Linn earned 391 votes, while 388 votes were cast for Dan Wilkins. The recount was conducted at the request of Wilkins, who was required to pay a $25 fee for the procedure. …
