The St. Joseph County Road Commission can start budgeting for some major roadwork set to take place this summer. 131 construction project to begin

Motorists who travel on U.S. 131 in Kalamazoo County are being advised of a construction project starting next week. The Michigan Department of Transportation on Monday will begin repaving 6.6 miles of U.S. 131 between I-94 and U Avenue in Portage. Lane closures begin in Constantine

The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced that single-lane closures will take place beginning today on the Business Route 131 bridge over the St. Joseph River in downtown Constantine. MDOT’s Nick Schirripa said the work, which will include beam repair and painting, is scheduled to continue through Nov. 1. Schirripa said the cost of the project is nearly $400,000.
