A 30-year-old Marcellus man suffered injuries as the result of a one-vehicle accident last week in Mottville Township. Secretary of State office closed

Here’s a reminder that the Secretary of State office in Sturgis is closed this week for remodeling. The office will remain unavailable through Aug. 1. Staff members said the South Centerville Road office will be remodeled to include a fresh coat of paint and new carpet. The office is slated to re-open Aug. 4.

Fatal stabbing in Battle Creek

Police say they’ve arrested a man in the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old Battle Creek gas station employee. The name of a man who drowned early Sunday in the St. Joseph River has been released by the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department. Tuition-reimbursement for county employees

The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners approved a tuition-reimbursement policy for county employees. Spearheaded by Commissioner Don Eaton, the program allows county employees to receive reimbursement up to 100 percent of tuition cost per semester at an accredited college, university or trade school. An Illinois man died Sunday in a drowning incident on Donnell Lake in Cass County’s Penn Township. The victim was identified as 67-year-old Vincent Churak of Evergreen Park, Illinois.
