Patrol boat named for WMU undefeated football

A Kalamazoo County Marine Division boat has been renamed in honor of Western Michigan University’s historical football season this year. The Kalamazoo Gazette reports that the naming of “Bronco 1” was part of a ceremony on Tuesday recognizing the accomplishments of the Broncos’ undefeated regular season. Northern Illinois Trips Up Broncos, 31-21

On the snowy turf of Waldo Stadium, Northern Illinois cooled off a hot Broncos squad with a second half comeback on Friday, Nov. 28, that included six WMU turnovers. The Huskies strong second half offense topped the Broncos, 31-21, which would have given Western an appearance in the MAC championship.

The Western Michigan Broncos improved their record to 2-1 on the season with a 45-14 victory over visiting Murray State on Saturday.
