Police investigate breaking-and-entering

State police are investigating a breaking-and-entering incident that took place at a Sturgis residence. According to a department media release, the break-in occurred between Nov. 30 and Dec. 2 in the 300 block of East South Street. Investigators said jewelry and weapons were reported stolen.

Labor agreement approved

A labor agreement with the St. Joseph County Fraternal Order of Police corrections sergeants divisions was approved Tuesday by the county’s board of commissioners. The three-year agreement includes no pay raise in 2016, but a 2 percent increase in 2017 and again in 2018. Asleep driver causes accident

A driver who police said fell asleep at the wheel caused a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning in Constantine Township. Community Foundation awarded several grants
