Luther “Lou” L. Warner, age 87, of Three Rivers, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on Nov. 16, 1922 in Three Rivers, MI., the son of LaVerne and Wyla (McDonald) Warner.
Lou has been a lifetime resident of Three Rivers. He graduated from Three Rivers High School with the class of 1941. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII and later was a member of the National Guard Company B of the 246th Tank Battalion where he was 2nd Lieutenant. He was a past Commander of the American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170 and also belonged to the Three Rivers Elks.
Lou was an avid gardener, reader, and Detroit Lions Fan. He truly loved his family and his special dog, “Cooper”.
Mr. Warner was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gary Warner in 1966 and a great-grandchild, Olivia Hale in 2005.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving family, wife Marilyn (Bradford) Warner, whom he married in 1949, of Three Rivers; two sons, Stu Warner, of Three Rivers, and Michael (Karen) Warner, of Portage, MI.; Eight grandchildren, Betsy (Jim) Rissi, Emily Warner, Adam (Katie) Warner, Benjamin Warner, Kris Warner, Jessica Warner, and Justin Hale; one sister, Marianne Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Jenna and Jackson Rissi, and Lexis and Jlyn Hale; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Dec. 2, 2009 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Dan Lane, Armstrong International Chaplain officiating.
Interment of cremains will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, with Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170.
