Bob Mader, 78

Robert Harry Mader, age 78, of Three Rivers, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Three Rivers Health Respite Suite surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Three Rivers, MI. on May 31, 1931 the son of Harry and Merrion (Tuttle) Mader.

Mr. Mader graduated from Three Rivers High School class of 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he was a member of the Army Band and played French Horn. Bob always had a passion for music and singing and was a member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A (Barber Shop Chorus and also the Four Doorsmen Quartet, as a baritone. He and his wife, Alice enjoyed camping as members of “Yapper’s Campers”.

He was employed by Cardinal Homes, Overhead Doors, Armstrong Machine Works for 15 years and eventually retired from the U.S. Post office after 18 years of service in 1997.

Bob was baptized and grew up in the St. John’s Lutheran Church and has been a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church since 1980 and belonged to the men’s group there, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bonnie Dale.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving family, wife, Alice (Glessner) Mader, whom he married in 1959; of Three Rivers; one daughter, Roxanne E. (Jack) Carpenter, of Three Rivers; one son, Robert W. (Jayne) Mader, of Marcellus, MI.; one brother, William (Beulah) Mader, of Three Rivers; five grandchildren, Shawn, Danielle, Brandy, Dawn and Martin; eight great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 185 W. 5th Street, Constantine, MI. with Pastor Dennis Smith offciaiting.

Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers.

Memorials may be donated to the Messiah Lutheran Church. Envelopes available at the funeral home and Church.
