Worth Thomson, 90

Worth E. (Blosdale) Thomson, age 90, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

Worth was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Reading, a daughter to the late Dr. Carlyle E. and Gladys (Hakes) Blosdale.

She graduated from Reading High School with the Class of 1937 and from International Business College in Ft. Wayne, Ind., in 1938. After graduation she went to work for an attorney in Kalamazoo and worked there for a year prior to her marriage. She later worked a short time at Douglas Mfg. in Bronson, four years for the Lamb Knit Goods Co. in Colon and 15 years for the Federal-Mogul Cargo Co. in Coldwater. She retired in 1975 when the company closed the Coldwater plant.

On July 1, 1939, she married Russell C. Thompson in Reading. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2000.

She had made her home in Colon, Coldwater and for the past 10 years had lived at the Villa at Thurston Woods Village.

Worth and her husband Russell had travelled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada and Alaska, and spent many winters in Florida.

She is survived by two daughters, Priscilla A. Davis of Lantana, Texas and Sharon W. Thompson of Sturgis; one granddaughter, Michelle Ann (Davis) Thornton of Sturgis; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Riley and Melissa Jo Thornton both of Sturgis; one brother, Carlyle (Ruth) A. Blosdale of Rogers City.

Besides her husband, she was preceded by one brother, Don Blosdale; and one infant sister, Barbara Blosdale.

There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service and interment of cremains will take place at a later date in Matteson Township Cemetery.

If desired the family ask that memorials be made in memory of Worth to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD in Colon.
