Susan Alice Steffey, age 71 of Mendon, died Friday May 28, 2010 at her home. She was born in Grosse Pointe, MI on Aug. 1, 1938 the daughter of Ivan and Marjorie (Gooch) Misener. She graduated from Pontiac High School in 1956. She was married to Herbert Steffey on Sep. 11, 1959 in Pontiac. They continued to reside in suburban Detroit and retired to Mendon in 1992. Susan was a homemaker, and enjoyed canning items from her garden, along with cooking, baking, and crocheting. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping, and life along the river. She attended the Leonidas Baptist Church.
Susan is survived by her husband, Herbert; 1 daughter, Debra Baker (Dale) of Mendon; 1 son, Herbert Steffey, Jr. (Carol) of Millersburg, OH; 4 grandchildren, Alicia Baker, Kari Baker, Brian Baker, and Jeff Welch; 3 great-grandchildren, Isaac, Michael, and Emily (along with soon expected, Autumn); 2 sisters, Sally Cipher of Oregon and Polly Hight of Walled Lake; 2 brothers, Tom Misener of Oregon and Mike Mesener of California; 1 step-brother, Jon Rives of Texas; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her step-father, Earl Rives.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday June 2, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor David Stevens of the Leonidas Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will follow services.
