Kimberly Ann Gushwa, 54, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away early Saturday morning, June 12, 2010, at her home.
She was born Sept. 16, 1955, in Sturgis, Mich., a daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn (Gressman) Davis.
Kim was a lifelong resident of Sturgis and graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 1974.
On March 29, 2005, she married Robert Gushwa in Las Vegas.
Kim had been employed by the Harter Group in Middlebury, Ind., for several years. Prior to joining Harter’s she had worked at Lund-Deflecta Shield in Howe, Ind., for over 10 years.
For several years she performed with the Sturgis Wind Symphony playing the bass clarinet. She enjoyed camping, traveling by motorcycle with her husband, bowling and playing cards. She loved her five cats and her dog Spyder who never left her side. Kim truly cherished time spent with her family and many friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Gushwa; one daughter, Kelli (her fiancé Gary E. Lewis, Jr.) Stone of Sturgis; two brothers, Bruce (Sandy) Davis and Randy (Mary) Davis, both of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Larry Davis.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and
6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, (269) 651-2331. A memorial service celebrating the life of Kimberly Davis will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Sturgis. The Rev. James Bender will officiate.
