John A. Gross Sr., age 84, of Colon, MI passed away Saturday, April 2nd, 2011 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence, in Battle Creek. He was born in Albion, Indiana on May 4, 1926, the son of Howard and Rachael (Addis) Gross. John graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1944. John served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946 during WWII. On February 24, 1973 he married Helen Marie (Eggstaff) Tunison. John was associated with the Mobile Home Industry most of his life retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Colon American Legion Post 454 and VFW Post 1355 Sturgis.
Surviving are his wife Helen Gross, daughters Sharon (Tom) Moseley of San Angelo, TX, Vickie Aman of Florida, son John “Bud” (Jodi) Gross Jr. of Colon, step daughters Kathie (Randy) Scott of Esconaba, and Tamara (Tim) Boudreau of Montana, son in law John Smith of Colon, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step daughter Jan Smith and sister Edith Trittipo.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no public services. Memorials may be directed to Lifespan Good Smaritan Hospice; 5470 Glenn Cross Rd. Battle Creek, MI 49015, or Colon Fire & Rescue. Arrangements are being handled by the Schipper Funeral Home LTD in Colon.
