Dale E. Walton, age 87, of Burr Oak, passed away, Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Dale was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Spink Co., S.D., a son to the late G.F. and Loa (Hagerty) Walton.
Dale grew up in Bronson, graduating from Bronson High School with the class of 1942. He moved to rural Burr Oak in 1952.
On Nov. 21, 1947, Dale married Neva Irene Tice in Bronson. Neva preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 2005.
Dale had farmed all his life and loved time spent with his family.
He is survived by four children, Kevin (Buff) Walton and Keith Walton and (Carla Woods) both of Burr Oak, Becky Ely of Oak Ridge, N.C., and Lloyd Walton and wife Tammy of Sherwood; grandchildren, Jeremy and Tammy Haskins of Colon, Anthony Ely and Amanda Imel of Portage, Abigail Ely of Dayton, Ohio, Karisa and Jennifer Ely both of Oak Ridge, N.C., Dylan Walton of Kalamazoo; two great granddaughters; brother, Charles (Barbara) Walton of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Wolff.
The family will receive relatives from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
A graveside funeral service and burial will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Nottawa Township Cemetery, with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating.
