Virginia McNew, 78

Virginia R. McNew, age 78, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away Thursday afternoon, July 14, 2011, at Sturgis Hospital.

She was born June 22, 1933, in Detroit, a daughter of the late Maurice and Ruth (Dee) Hunter.

On June 14, 1951, she married Edward B. McNew in Monroe.

Virginia was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great -grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 60 years, Edward; two sons, Brad McNew and his special friend Julie McPherson of Sturgis and Greg (Carrie) McNew of Sturgis; grandchildren, Nick, Brandon, Michelle, Matthew, and Rob, Carl and Misty; and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Zachary. She is also survived by a sister, Peggy (Bill) Jameson of Texas; sister-in-law, Beth (Ray) Parrott of Tennessee; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mike McNew; and one brother, Dick Hunter.

According to her wishes, all services are private. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in LaSalle.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.

The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. McNew’s memory consider the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 North Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707 or Michigan League for Crippled Children, 13969 13 Mile Road, Warren, MI 48088.
