Richard Farler, 76

Richard Fred Farler, age 76, of Burr Oak, passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 24, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 29, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son to the late Fred and Carrie (Hackworth) Farler.

He had been a resident of the Burr Oak area for the past 40 years, moving to Burr Oak from Marshall, Mich.

Richard owned and operated Farler’s Auto Sales and Junk Yard in Burr Oak and he was an avid deer hunter and a very talented Bluegrass guitar player.

Richard had three children, Richard Scott Farler who passed away Jan. 10, 1990, and surviving, Jerry Robert (Tina) Farler and Jerry Justin Farler, all of Burr Oak; one granddaughter, Hannah Beth Farler of Burr Oak; his wife, Amanda Sue Farler of Burr Oak; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Scott; a brother, Albert; and sister-in-law, Carolyn.

According to his wishes, there will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. A graveside service celebrating the life of Richard Fred Farler will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Burr Oak Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Beverly, officiating.

The family suggest memorial donations in his memory be directed to the American Cancer Society, envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
