Donna Davis, 88

Donna B. Davis, age 88, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and a former Sturgis resident, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the Heartland of Perrysburg.

She was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Howe, Ind., a daughter to the late Milton and Sylvia (Itt) Heltzel.

Donna graduated from Springfield Township High School in Mongo, Ind., and then attended business school.

On June 10, 1951, she married Stanley VonOlnhausen. He preceded her in death June 6, 1961.

On July 2, 1965 she married Perry Davis. He preceded her in death March 14, 1996.

After retiring from business office work, Donna was employed by the Sturgis Public Schools, working in the elementary cafeteria. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped with funeral dinners and rummage sales. She enjoyed reading and music.

Surviving are one son, Terry (Joyce) Davis of Fort Payne, Ala.; two grandchildren, Kathryn (Chris) Patterson of Fort Payne, Ala. and Christopher (Jennifer) Davis of Greenville, SC; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Foye Heltzel of Sturgis, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers; and three sisters.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 4-8 p.m. today, Monday, at the Hackman Family Funeral Home – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.

Services celebrating the life of Donna Davis will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Christopher Patterson, LivingStone Ministry, officiating.

Graveside services and interment will follow in Sturgis Memorial Gardens. The family suggest memorial donations be directed to the LivingStone Ministry, for the Academy Scholarship Fund, 609 3rd St. N.E., Fort Payne, AL 35967. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
