Constantine headed to semi-final game

Two of three St. Joseph County high schools came up short over the weekend in their bids to advance to the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s football playoffs.

The Constantine Falcons were the only team to survive and advance to the final four in Division 6. The Falcons on Friday topped previously unbeaten Hillsdale, 49-35.

Constantine will battle Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central at 1 p.m. Saturday in a neutral-field site at Harper Creek High School in Battle Creek. Both teams are 10-2 heading into the state semi-final contest.

Meanwhile, Three Rivers fell Friday to Grand Rapids South Christian to finish its season at 8-4. Also, Mendon ended its season at 11-1, with a loss at home Saturday to Muskegon Catholic Central.
