United Way trying to meet goal

The St. Joseph County United Way is hoping a late push in sales of its $1 raffle tickets will help the Centreville-based agency meet its 2013 season fundraising goal.

Between now and Jan. 31, the United Way is offering a $1,000 Meijer gift card with the purchase of a ticket. The drawing will take place during the agency’s Feb. 7 celebration event, set to take place at Immaculate Conception’s recreation center.

Executive director Kelly Hostetler said the 2013 campaign season is short of its $715,000 goal, which is its largest ever. Though she declined to indicate the current difference, she said the $1-per-ticket opportunity for the gift card will hopefully help attain the goal.

The tickets are available from United Way board members and at the agency’s office, at 660 E. Main St., Centreville.
