Stevens spearheading fundraiser

A 15-year-old Leonidas teen is spearheading a fundraiser this weekend to support the Great Lakes Burn Camp.

Shyannah Stevens, with some help from members of the Leonidas Fire Department, is overseeing a pancake breakfast 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Leonidas Grange Hall.

All donations will go toward the camp that hosts teenagers who are burn victims. The one-week camp takes place every August at Pretty Lake in Kalamazoo County’s Texas Township.

A Mendon High School freshman, Stevens has mowed lawns, collected bottles and cans, staged a hog roast and made scarfs, bracelets and necklaces over the past four years to help raise more than $2,000 for the camp.

The grange hall is at 30970 King Road, just west of the blinker on M-60 in Leonidas.
