Building in Constantine gets new owner

The former Rexam building in Constantine is getting a new owner.

Village manager Mark Honeysett stated during last week’s village council meeting that Central Manufacturing Services of Three Rivers closed on the purchase of the building July 15.

Honeysett said he has had extensive conversations with CMS owner Jamie Clark, who indicated the building will house a logistics center comprised of a trucking/transportation business, warehousing and offices.

Honeysett said Clark indicated the logistics center will be operational late this summer.

CMS has a fleet of 650 trailers and conducts business primarily Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. CMS has five properties in Three Rivers, four in Sturgis and two in Kalamazoo.

The action all but rules out Indiana-based Nature’s Fuel from purchasing or using any portion of the property, despite assurances through the years from company officials to the contrary.

The building was vacated in 2010.
