United Way planning Silent Auction

Officials from the St. Joseph County United Way have announced planning has begun for the 2014 Silent Auction at the county fair in September.

Executive director Kelly Hostetler said she is appealing to the public for and help with a donation of items. The Silent Auction, the agency’s largest, single-event fundraiser, was a success last year and those who participated were much appreciated, Hostetler said.

Some examples of popular auction items include bicycles, camping equipment, tools, antiques, themed gift baskets, gift certificates, electronics and artwork. Cash donations are also accepted and will be used to purchase items in the name of the donor.

The United Way will pick up any items offered for donation.

The deadline for donations is at the end of August. Hostetler can be reached at 467-9099.
