Flowerfield agrees to stay with TR/Marcellus ambulance services

Flowerfield Township has agreed to retain the services of Three Rivers Fire and Marcellus fire departments for its ambulance service.
A split vote on the matter occurred during a special meeting Tuesday.
Township supervisor Carroll Parmeter suggested switching the service to Pride Care based on what he said amounted to a one-year cost increase of more than 2,000 percent proposed by Three Rivers.
The figure Parmeter quoted was an increase from more than $3,100 to nearly $11,000 in the township’s contract with the city.
The majority of the residents in attendance urged the board to stay with Three Rivers and Marcellus, noting the allegiance Flowerfield Township has with the two departments.
In the end, board members Jim Griffith, Jim Cripps and Pam Altimus voted against switching a contract to Pride Care. Parmeter and Ron Shaver cast the dissenting votes.
