Glen Oaks to create alumni association

Glen Oaks Community College is looking for alumni and friends interested in helping to establish an “Alumni and Friends Association.”
Pam Hughes, director of Glen Oaks Community College Foundation, said it is looking to get people together who share appreciation for the college as a common bond.
She explained that the idea is for the group to gather for local or regional events three to four times a year. Suggestions for activities could range from having speakers at coffee shops to offering daytrips to regional points of interest or sporting events, attending signature events such as Art Prize, traveling to Chicago, discovering museums or holiday shopping.
Hughes said alumni are considered to be anyone who has taken one or more courses.
The initial meetings are at 5 p.m. Aug. 23 at Great Lakes Chocolate and Coffee in Sturgis, and 5 p.m. Aug. 24 at L.A.’s Coffee Cafe in Three Rivers.
Hughes can be reached at 294-4384.
