County seeking new finance director

St. Joseph County is looking for a new finance director.
Human Resources director Teresa Doehring during Tuesday’s county commission meeting said Joni Smith has announced her resignation.
Smith, 55, said she has accepted a job as finance director for the city of Easley, S.C. Her son, daughter and two grandchildren live in the area. Smith said the opportunity to be closer to the four was too good of a situation to pass up.
Smith, a Nottawa Township resident, said her last day will be June 21. Smith was hired in June 2011 after Dan Carey retired. Her 2017 salary is $72,828.
Doehring said the county is working with a recruiting firm to help secure a replacement.
