Mendon Riverfest wrapup

Organizers of this year’s 30th Mendon Riverfest said the three-day festival was a success.
Following a strong opening night of lip-sync competition Thursday, Riverfest continued with other competitive events.
Friday’s cornhole tournament – and a $100 prize – was claimed by Three Rivers’ Gus Alexander and Javed McBride of Mendon.
Abby Jones of Mendon won the “Biggest Game Fish” category of Saturday’s fishing tournament, held on the St. Joseph River. Tim Scott placed second. J.D. Conroy, meanwhile, won the “Heaviest Fish” category.”
Andy Weeks and Paddi Thornburg won the novice division of Saturday’s canoe race, while Stephen and Brady Leppard won placed first in the pro division.
A three-person team calling themselves the River Rats won Saturday’s canoe swamp, which attracted three squads.
And Saturday’s trivia contest was claimed by a team comprised of Mendon residents Bill Trenary, Kari Trenary, Matt Eickhoff, Alex Eickhoff and Julia Sutter.
