Jail Ministry held banquet

The 27th annual Jail Ministry Banquet took place recently, an event staged through the Correctional Chaplaincy Corporation of St. Joseph County under the direction of Chaplain Jake Schwartz.

The meal was provided by several area churches and prepared by parishioners of Calvary Chapel.

The annual pie auction added several hundred dollars to the total raised for the annual benefit, which included Sheriff Brad Balk sharing the department’s annual report. There were also inmate testimonies to inspire the audience and promote the work of the chaplaincy.

Several shared how the jail ministry helped them see what they could do to change their lives, while some talked of the steps they have already taken to ensure that those changes become a more permanent part of their lives.
