Police investigate meth lab

State police investigators are looking into the discovery of a methamphetamine lab over the weekend in Mendon Township.

According to a department media release, troopers were made aware of the lab Saturday afternoon after it was discovered by children playing in the area of Wakeman and River Run roads.

The children took home what they thought was suspicious trash and their parents contacted police.

Specially-trained troopers were on the scene for several hours processing the hazardous material. During the follow-up process, a vehicle driven in a suspicious manner approached the area then sped away.

Troopers stopped the driver, who was determined to be under the influence of alcohol but not associated with the meth lab, according to investigators.
