State senate candidate files paperwork

Dave Pagel has filed to run for the 21st State Senate seat.

He is currently in his third term representing the 78th District in the Michigan House of Representatives.

Pagel is running to succeed Sen. John Proos, who is unable to run again because of term limits. The 21st District includes all of Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph counties.

Pagel said as a state representative, it has been an honor to meet people from around the district and work to promote values and strengthen communities.

Pagel grew up on a family fruit farm, and started his own farms and produce-marketing business at 23. He is now in his 40th year of running those businesses.
