Five arrested on drug charges

Five people ranging in age from 24 to 64 were arrested last week on drug-related offenses in Cass County’s Porter Township.

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team responded Friday to the 15000 block of Guyer Street on a tip regarding the sale of methamphetamine. Authorities were also advised that there was stolen property on the premises.

Three male subjects were located in the residence; one female was found in a tent in the woods just north of the residence; a male subject was located living in the bed of a pickup truck; and another male was located residing in a shed on the property.

A search of the property yielded methamphetamine and meth paraphernalia, heroin and heroin paraphernalia, money, two firearms and items indicating the sale of methamphetamine.

In addition, detectives located several stolen items that were located on the property. Authorities arrested four men, ages 64, 60, 39 and 29, and a 24-year-old woman.

Charges range from possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, felony firearm and felon in possession of a firearm, to receiving/concealing stolen property, maintaining a drug house and possession of heroin, authorities said.

Charges are being sought against a sixth person found on the property.
