Vivian Miller, 88

Vivian Ialeen Miller, age 88, of Sturgis, passed away early Monday morning, Oct. 15, 2018, at the home of her daughter Cheryl in Portage.
She was born July 29, 1930, in Howe, Ind., a daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruth (Kline) Wisler.
Vivian had resided in Sturgis for the past 58 years. Her early life was spent in Howe, and she was a graduate of Scott High School with the class of 1948.
On Nov. 20, 1949, she married Orvan J Miller at Lima Evangelical Church in Howe. He died May 19, 2011.
For 20 years, she worked in the AAA Insurance office in Sturgis and she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Vivian was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sturgis and a former member of Mintdale Women’s Club and she enjoyed reading, taking walks and loved flower and vegetable gardening.
Vivian is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Philip) Teitelbaum of Portage and Connie (Steve) Yorks of Sturgis; five grandchildren, Daniel (Nanako) Teitelbaum, Kenneth (Krista) Teitelbaum, Christopher (Brittney) Yorks and Nicole Yorks; six great-grandchildren, Brandon, Keagan, Sarah, Perry, Kinser and Lane; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Robert Wisler.
The family would like to extend specials thanks to Hospice of Sturgis, especially JoAnn, Janine, Rose and Pastor Rodger Moyer and Dr. Rhonda Sharp for the care and comfort given to their mother and grandmother, and Thurston Cares, Tami and Tammi for their compassion and friendship.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Vivian I. Miller will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Jeanne Garza and the Rev. Rodger Moyer will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial of the ashes will follow the memorial service at Sidener Cemetery in rural Howe, Ind.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
