Jim Wallick, 82

Jimmie D. Wallick, age 82, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 30, 2019, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born April 26, 1936, in Sturgis, a son of the late Vernon and Marjorie (King) Wallick.
Jim was a lifelong Sturgis resident. On Nov. 9, 1956, he married Janet Kane at First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.
Jim was a self-employed building contractor and was well-known for the pride he took in fine finish work.
He was a member of Eagles Lodge #1314 and B.P.O. Elks #1381. For many years, he participated in horseshoe leagues. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes, fishing, hunting, playing pinochle with his family and going to the casino with his daughter Terri. Jim’s greatest joy was attending his children’s and grandchildren’s many school activities and band and sporting events.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 62 years, Janet; a daughter, Terri (Michael) Beehler of Elkhart; a son, Mark Wallick of Sturgis; a daughter-in-law, Denise Wallick Livingston of Dexter; six grandchildren, Emily Ann (Daniel Charles) Gray of South Lyon, Erica Lynn Antkowiak of Ypsilanti, Katie Leigh Wallick of Lansing, Kevin Richard Wallick of Dexter, Jonah Wallick of Fort Wayne, and Treyton Wallick of Sturgis; two great-grandchildren, Elena Hazel Gray and Oliver Aiden Antkowiak; a brother, Vern Wallick of Sturgis; three sisters, Pat (Brian) VanSkyke of Charlotte, Bev (Bernard) Fuller of Sun City, Fla., and Dixie Lynn DeHan of Portage; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmy Wallick Jr. ,in 2003; and three brothers, Melvin Wallick, Robert Wallick and Richard Wallick.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial and celebration of Jimmie D. Wallick’s life will be held at a later date.
Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with arrangements.
