Police arrest bank robbery suspect

A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two recent bank robberies in the Michiana area.

Dwight Neal faces charges for a Dec. 18 robbery of Flagstar Bank in South Bend and a Dec. 21 robbery at PNC Bank in Bronson.

Neal was arrested Dec. 22 in South Bend after police responded to a domestic abuse call, said Kevin Garcia, spokesperson for the South Bend Police Department. While investigating the domestic report, Garcia said, it was learned Neal was a possible suspect in the robberies.

Neal is charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of robbery.

Authorities were called to PNC in Bronson after Neal allegedly went to a teller and said he had a gun, though he did not show one. He demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of currency.
