Nama Olds, 82

Carol Anne “Nama” Olds, age 82, of Sturgis, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 22, 2019, at her home.
She was born April 30, 1936, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late Leon and Merna (Riddley) Paulus.
Carol resided in Sturgis since 1960, coming from LaGrange, where she was a graduate of LaGrange High School with the class of 1954.
On April 16, 1955, she married Roger Olds in LaGrange.
Carol had been employed as a secretary at Sturgis Hospital and Glabman Paramount in Sturgis. She also worked as a licensed hairdresser and, in retirement, she loved working at Vogt’s Floral in Sturgis for several years.
Nama was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was active with several circles and committees over the years.
She was a member of Sturgis Newcomers Club and she had served as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed knitting, vegetable and flower gardening and working in her yard. For several years, she was involved in league bowling and she loved playing golf and was a hole-in-one golfer.
Nama is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 63 years, Roger; two daughters, Deborah (Robert) Neydon of Sturgis and Susan (Ron) Harter of Howe, Ind.; a grandson, Christopher (Jennifer) Neydon; a great-grandson, Timothy Neydon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy Olds; and two sisters, Margo Burroughs and Mary Mandez.
The family would like to give special thanks to Holly and Becca of Heartland Hospice and Candace Lawson for the exceptional care extended to Carol.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Carol “Nama” Olds will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Jeanne Garza will officiate.
Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with arrangements.
