Cass County crash injures one

Cass County deputies were called to a single-vehicle accident last weekend in Porter Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies responded at 1:30 p.m. Sunday to M-40 near Spatterdock Lake Street. Investigators said 63-year-old Randy Riley, whose community of residence was not listed in a department media release, was driving north on M-40 when his vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree.

Riley was treated at Elkhart General Hospital. Authorities said a seatbelt was worn and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
