Bicyclist injured in crash

A Marcellus man was injured when the bicycle on which he was riding was struck by a car last week in Cass County.

Sheriff Richard Benhke said 82-year-old James Shannon was riding his bicycle south on M-40 near Brody Street in Marcellus Township when it was struck by a southbound car driven by Cody Bresmen, 26, of Dowagiac.

Shannon was transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment of his injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and authorities said Shannon was not wearing a helmet.
