Marcellus woman injured in Cass County crash

A Marcellus woman was injured after the car she was driving went off the roadway earlier this week.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday to Hathaway Road near Church Street in response to a personal-injury crash.

Investigators said 30-year-old Donna Wright was driving north on Hathaway when she moved toward the shoulder of the road to make room for an approaching vehicle.

While doing so, Wright’s vehicle entered into a small culvert in the roadway, lost control and struck a tree, Behnke said. Wright was taken to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Investigators said seatbelts were worn and neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been a factor.
