Vehicle catches fire after crash

An Indiana woman suffered minor injuries after the car she was driving went off the road and crashed into a row of trees last week in Cass County’s Porter Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies responded shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday to an area along Harvey Street, near Walnut Street.

Investigators found that Jamee Ketchem, 34, was driving east on Harvey Street and failed to negotiate a curve. Following a collision with the trees, Ketchem’s vehicle burst into flames. Ketchem, however, was able to exit the vehicle before it caught fire.

Airbags did deploy and a seatbelt was used, authorities said, noting that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been a factor in the incident.
