Wetherbee honored for service on the Board of Canvassers

A Lockport Township resident was honored for his longevity on an obscure but important county board.

St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a resolution saluting Jim Wetherbee and his 22 years as a member of the county’s Board of Canvassers.

Wetherbee, a former teacher and principal, is a member of the Centreville Lions Club. The resolution states that Wetherbee is to be recognized for his “dedication to the entire community, quick wit, fun stories and devoted public service.”

Wetherbee told commissioners the board of canvassers had the good fortune of including a pair of solid county clerks, Pattie Bender and Lindsay Oswald, during his tenure on the board of canvassers.

Wetherbee said he will miss serving on the board and he enjoyed his 22 years as a member.
