Constantine continues in playoffs

Three of St. Joseph County’s varsity football teams that qualified for the post-season tournament bowed out over the weekend.

In action Friday, Mendon lost, 38-to-0, to defending Division 8 champ Reading. White Pigeon was shutout, as well, falling to Cassopolis, 41-to-0.

Meanwhile, in Division 7, Centreville came up short in a loss to Cassopolis, 7-to-3.

On a brighter note, Constantine kept its season alive with a 58-to-8 win over previously unbeaten Niles Brandywine. The Falcons will square off against Hillsdale later in the week, as Hillsdale topped Jonesville on Friday.

In 8-man football, No. 2-ranked Colon had little trouble with Camden-Frontier on Saturday in Colon. The Magi won, 60-12, and will next face Martin, which shut out Bellevue over the weekend.

Colon will host the matchup, with day and time to be announced by Tuesday.
