Mary Ball, 64

Mary Lou Ball, age 64, of Sturgis, passed away early Tuesday morning November 19, 2019 at her home.
She was born August 24, 1955 in Muncie, Indiana daughter of the late Marvin and Lucille (Andres) Rigby.
Mary resided most of her life in the Sturgis area and was a graduate of Centreville High School with the class of 1973.
On October 25, 1984 she married Kenneth Ball in Sturgis.
Most of Mary’s working life was as a social worker. She had been employed by Michigan State University and St. Joseph County Substance Abuse. Mary was instrumental with the St. Joseph County Building Strong Families Program. She also had worked as a waitress and at Sturgis Molded Products.
She was a member of the Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Sturgis.
She enjoyed coloring, playing cards and Bingo and crocheting. Mary was happiest when she was surrounded by her family that she so dearly loved.
Mary is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 35 years: Kenneth; one daughter: Tara Ball of Sturgis; one son: Travis (Rachel) Schuler of Detroit; two granddaughters: Hailey Harker and Sierra Harker; one sister: Erma Nearon of Berne, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 5:00- to 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 300 Timothy Drive in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Lou Ball will begin at 6:00 P.M. Thursday. Pastors Luke Eicher and Justin Wickey will officiate. In accordance with Mary’s wishes cremation will follow the service.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331 is entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to the funeral home to help with expenses.
