Charles LeRoy Edick, age 87, died peacefully with his family by his side at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. He was born April 4, 1932 in Kalamazoo, the son of Floyd A. Edick and Emma S. Kersten one of 9 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings (Richard, Robert, Floyd, Eunice, Jean, Virginia, Marilyn and Carolyn), his son Charles Leroy Edick II and son-in-law Fred Luedecking.
Charles and Pauline (Bohne) were united in marriage in 1949. Pauline preceded him in death on March 3, 2004. They had 7 children, Sherry (Fred) Luedecking, Richard (Mona) Edick, Maria (Wayne) Watts, Charles Edick II, Mark (LaDonna) Edick, Timothy Edick, Robyn Flipse. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and many friends and longtime companion Mary Morton.
Chuck retired from the Upjohn Company in 1989 but continued working. He delivered travel trailers across the United States and then up until the first of this year he sold Conklin Products. His gift of gab and love of people were a great match for sales. He would help out family and friends along with the local racing community with the products he so firmly believed in.
He was a life time member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed stock car racing and loved visiting tracks across the country with his sons and grandsons. He was a member of the Old Timers Club at Kalamazoo Speedway and did some racing himself in his younger days. He loved singing, dancing, and telling jokes. Always looked forward to seeing everyone at the cousin’s card parties and the annual family reunion.
